Sections: Shaped Through Stories (Fall Term 1 2019 SC-101-WEB3)

SIMPSON COLLOQUIUM 101-WEB3 Shaped Through Stories
After the attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand that left over fifty people dead, a British Christian man stood outside his local mosque with a sign that read, "You are my friends. I will keep watch while you pray." This is one example of putting aside differences to find humanity. This course will take us on a journey of finding our stories through writing. At the same time, we will explore other perspectives through memoir, literary fiction, young adult fiction, narrative journalism, and also from each other. We will examine how sharing our stories and learning from others can result in a paradigm shift that leads to greater understanding and compassion. (CRITTHNK, WRITCOM)
