HONORS 290-A Conspiracy Theories
Why do some Americans hold false beliefs? Why are those beliefs so hard to change? In this seminar, we will learn how individual psychology, social influences, and the fragmented US media environment make us vulnerable to conspiracy theories and fake news. We will see how citizens are misled by propaganda and viral stories on social media, and students will also act as investigative journalists by debunking misinformation in real time in the 2020 campaign.
